Tomatoes. There are many who adore the bright red, water-filled fruit. Others despise them… But enjoy a ketchup condiment? Yeah, I don’t know. Tomatoes have an acquired taste and texture, likely due to how acidic they are. They have a tough skin that might be uncomfortable to bite through for some, but others thoroughly enjoy the burst of flavors when they bite into the red delicacy.

I wasn’t a fan of tomatoes when I was younger, but they’ve since grown on me immensely. Tomatoes are now one of my favorite additions to any salad, burger, or even one of my top picks for a standalone snack… I know. Having a sense of humor is an invaluable quality. You don’t have to be a brilliant standup comedian to know that! Comedy is highly beneficial if you’re weak in other social skills. How many times have you heard the story of the nerdy class clown who was able to gain the respect of their fellow students through their biting sense of humor? I was 100% that kid when I was in high school. I took this John Waters quote extremely literally when I was a teen, and in some ways, I still do! 

“Anytime you make someone laugh or satirize something, it’s the best way to change someone’s opinion because they’re defenseless – they laugh, they listen.”

Humor is the most effective casual interpersonal way to get others on your side. Of course, you don’t want to take that too far and always try to perform for others desperately to get them to like you. That came with my class clown era, and I would 0/10 recommend it. Where the the folks with driver’s licenses, new drivers and old ones alike?

You’re pretty lucky. The very fact that we can hop in an automobile and go wherever we want is kind of sick. When you think about it, the invention of the car was monumental in travel inventions as the previous form of transport was a horse and buggy. I’m not sure I’m cool with a horse dragging my weight around, so cars are pretty rad.

Driving is less cool sometimes. You have the typical road rage-ridden drivers who always think they’re in the right, you have daily rush hour traffic that makes you feel like you’re never going to get home, and you have the price of gas. The three horsemen of the driving apocalypse. I can’t really speak for drivers because I grew up in New York City and don’t even have my permit. So, I guess all that I’ve written thus far is hearsay. Regardless, driving is freeing and hindering all at once—and I think that’s beautiful.

What a whirlwind we’ve been through with the weather the past year and a half. From the rampant wildfires in Canada to most recently, Hurricane Helene in the U.S., it seems no place in the world can catch a break from Mother Nature’s wrath.
