Dungeons and Dragons can bring out the best in us. It makes us come together as collaborators, everyone working together toward one common goal. It’s team building of the highest order. We need to be quick on our feet, good at problem-solving, and willing to keep trying new ideas before we can come to a solution. You can’t hold onto any idea too tightly or else you’ll jeopardize the fun. And if you cause too much infighting, the whole ship will go down. It’s also good for your imagination, a muscle that we don’t flex enough these days.
Dungeons and Dragons can also bring out the worst in us. It can give us an outlet for all our negative instincts. We get to be violent, mean, completely destructive, and reckless. We can be outrageous flirts and terrible marauders. And it’s all allowed under the name of gameplay. In fact, it makes it more fun to have a little bit of chaos in the mix.
