We are thrilled to welcome our new students, staff, and their families to our Holy Spirit family for the 2025-2026 school year. Each year, our students are presented with new opportunities for academic and spiritual growth, service to others, and living out their faith within the school community and beyond. This year, we are pleased to welcome Father Cesar Jaramillo, our new pastor, to Holy Spirit. He will join Filippini Sister Marie Antonelli, our principal, and Paul Hirsch, dean of academics, in leading our school

Holy Spirit School in Pequannock, N.J., is filled with anticipation for its 69th school year.

He will join Filippini Sister Marie Antonelli, our principal, and Paul Hirsch, dean of academics, in leading our school community as we continue to grow academically and spiritually.

Virtues will continue to be the focus of our school as we demonstrate how to exemplify them in our daily lives. Each grade level will tie in the monthly virtue, showing how we can grow closer to Jesus through understanding and actively living each virtue daily. We look forward to serving God and helping others through our virtues of faith.

Whether experimenting in our Science Lab, brainstorming challenges in STREAM, completing novel studies in ELA classes, making connections and solving problems in math, creating projects in social studies, or creating visual masterpieces in art, the students in our classrooms are actively engaged, collaboratively working, inquisitively questioning, and critically thinking. Instilling a love of learning is a focus in all of our classrooms.

This year, Holy Spirit Church is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Holy Spirit Church is in the midst of an amazing renovation project, and we look to celebrate this Jubilee year with the rededication and consecration Mass on this Saturday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. We are blessed that Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney will celebrate the Mass.

We look forward to our annual Legacy Gala, this year honoring Betty Cass-Schmidt and the Kurian family at The Brownstone in Paterson on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, from 6:30-10 p.m. The Legacy Gala will bring together current families, alums, and benefactors of Holy Spirit School in support of Catholic education. All events are posted on our school website. We hope our many alums from our past 69 years will be able to join us during these very special events.

Most importantly, Holy Spirit School is devoted to the Holy Spirit and dedicated to forming faith, which is incorporated throughout our day. Led by Father Jaramillo and Sister Antonelli, students witness firsthand their dedication to their vocations and faith. We look forward to Father Jaramillo’s classroom visits as a highlight of our students’ days. Our school community is also touched by the spirit of St. Lucy Filippini, the foundress of the Religious Teachers Filippini who lead our school. School Masses are celebrated monthly and on Holy days, with class Masses held on a rotating basis each Monday.

The staff, students, and families of Holy Spirit School are excited about the start of another new year together filled with learning, love, faith, and fun.
